Spark Plugs

Spark plugs are the mechanisms that give life to your engine's combustion process. They are located in each of your Land Rover's engine cylinders and typically have a lifespan of several years.

How Spark Plugs Work

When your start the ignition of your vehicle, voltage is received from the battery through the ignition system, which feeds the electrical spark that derives out of the top of your spark plugs. As your pistons draw forth fuel and oxygen, the sparks from the plugs ignite this mixture which combust in order to power your engine and the mobility of your vehicle.

Spark plugs are simple in design. They consist of conductive metals like nickel alloy or copper housed inside a ceramic body that protects from heat and pressure. They are about half the size of a pencil, and they screw into the cylinder heads of your engine.

When Should You Replace Your Spark Plugs?

Spark plugs will begin to show symptoms of failure between 80,000 and 100,000 miles. They usually fall victim to corrosion or normal wear and tear due to high heat and consistent use. You may encounter engine sputtering, troubles of starting your car, and or engine misfires when the spark plugs take a turn for the worse.
